PSHE
PSHE at our school is delivered through a carefully sequenced, age-appropriate curriculum from Years 4–11 that supports pupils’ social, emotional, mental health and personal development.
Across all key stages, pupils learn about identity, relationships, health, safety, equality, and preparation for adulthood, with content revisited and deepened over time to meet developmental needs.
The curriculum places a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, self-regulation, healthy relationships, online and real-world safety, mental and physical health, and understanding rights, responsibilities, and the law.
Teaching is responsive and trauma-informed, with flexibility built in to revisit key themes such as consent, coercion, exploitation, mental health, and risk where pupils need additional support.
Lessons are adapted to meet individual SEMH needs, using additional resources, discussion, and structured activities to support understanding and engagement. Assessment focuses on recall, understanding, and application through low-stakes quizzes and interactive activities, ensuring pupils gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to make safe, informed choices and to successfully prepare for life beyond school.
